Texas Class A CDL
Our Class A CDL Program is designed to prepare you to pass the Texas Class A CDL exams. Our intensive 20 day program gives you a total of 200 hours of training. The program combines lessons that involve both classroom instruction and practical application behind the wheel, both on the range and on the road. We have two sets of objectives: one set of objectives deals with the knowledge that a trainee should learn;  the second relates to skills that the student should master. Fluid Academy offers day and weekend classes.

Formal training is the most reliable way to learn the many special skills required for entry-level tractor-trailer driving. The more skills learned in supervised training, the fewer that must be mastered on the job. Fluid Academy's Class A program is based on the skills, knowledge, tasks, and duties of entry-level truckers.

Field Training Focuses on the Following:

  • Basic Operation

  • Safe Operating Practices

  • Advanced Operating Procedures

  • Vehicle Systems Knowledge

  • DOT Safety Rules and Regulations

Classroom Training Focuses on the Following:

  • 5 required Texas Class A CDL Exams

  • Combination, Tanker, Passenger, and Hazmat Endorsements

  • DOT Safety Rules and Regulations

  • Logbooks

  • Defensive Driving Techniques

  • Trip Planning

In addition to the above, you will take a DOT physical and drug screen to obtain the medical card required to get you behind the wheel training.

Field training includes both observation and "behind-the-wheel time". Since you will be in the driver's seat for most of your trucking career, we place a heavy emphasis on "behind- the-wheel" training in a real tractor (not a simulator). The field training consists of driving in training areas that include a combination of highway, city, and heavy traffic driving. There is an emphasis on defensive driving, backing the tractor trailer, and safety. Emergency procedures are also practiced extensively. In addition, the training consists of DPS practice road testing. Upon successful completion of classroom and field training, you will obtain your Class A CDL and graduate from our program.
