In addition to the above, you will take a DOT physical and drug screen to obtain the medical card required to get you behind the wheel training. Field training includes both observation and "behind-the-wheel time". Since you will be in the driver's seat for most of your trucking career, we place a heavy emphasis on "behind- the-wheel" training in a real tractor (not a simulator). The field training consists of driving in training areas that include a combination of highway, city, and heavy traffic driving. There is an emphasis on defensive driving, backing the tractor trailer, and safety. Emergency procedures are also practiced extensively. In addition, the training consists of DPS practice road testing. Upon successful completion of classroom and field training, you will obtain your Class A CDL and graduate from our program.
